To assist Indiana healthcare professionals in expanding their knowledge bases, Indiana Lyme Connect has partnered with Dr. Elizabeth Maloney, a Minnesota family physician, and the Partnership for Tick-borne Disease Education to offer access to free, accredited continuing medical education (CME) courses covering the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease.
After reviewing the available scientific literature on tick-borne diseases in 2006, Dr. Maloney realized that there were significant gaps in clinical understanding of those illnesses, and switched her focus to educating medical professionals about the various aspects of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne diseases. She began offering CME courses about Lyme in 2007.
Dr. Maloney has published several papers in peer-reviewed medical journals, is frequently invited to speak to medical professionals across the nation, and was recently selected to serve on the Pathogenesis, Transmission and Treatment subcommittee of the federally mandated Tick-borne Disease Working Group.
The following free CME courses are accredited as enduring material activities by the American Academy of Family Physicians. The certification for each course is renewed annually, and they are currently up-to-date. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in each activity.
